meet Misty
Misty Sanchez, LMHC-A has worked for more than 13 years in the mental health profession, focusing on person-centered, integrative counseling. She uses a variety of modes and approaches for connecting with patients and helping them reach the place they want to be mentally, emotionally, and in life. She offers a nurturing demeanor toward listening to patients while holding each client accountable for their actions and encouraging them to apply the skills they develop during her sessions. Her therapy dog, Mr. Bojangles, is always available to clients as an added comfort during sessions if the client wishes. Misty knows that everyone is struggling in one way or another with the COVID-19 pandemic. She wants to support clients during this trying time. She also is able to incorporate faith and spirituality into her practice according to client needs.
Education and License
Misty received her Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHC-A) from Liberty University in Virginia in 2020. Prior, she held a career in social work, having received an undergraduate degree in social work from Southwest Minnesota State University in 2008. In addition to her education, Misty is a certified life coach through the International Association of Professions Career College. Altogether, she has worked for more than 13 years in the mental health profession. For new clients within the United States Misty offers appointments via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or in-person visits.
Specialties and Expertise
Misty specializes in work with adolescents (ages 12 and up) and adults, focusing on coping skills, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and childhood emotional neglect. She also specializes in working with single mothers. She utilizes talk therapy techniques, sand tray therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, solution-focused techniques, motivational interviewing, and faith-based Christian counseling strategies for clients who are of the Christian faith.
